CBG vs. CBD

In this section, we are going to compare CBG to CBD. As we do so, we will break down the differences between the two as we cover the following topics:

  • Availability within the plant
  • Popularity amongst consumers and researchers
  • Their individual properties
  • Retail Product Availability
  • Bonus: Effects of CBG + CBD when mixed together

Availability

The percentage of CBG and CBD available on a per plant/hemp flower basis varies tremendously. According to verywellmind.com, you can expect to find only about 1% of CBG per plant and up to 25% of CBD.

Popularity

CBG Oils are currently the 3rd most popular hemp oil in the cannabis market, sitting right behind THC oil. As you probably could’ve guessed, the 1st place trophy for the most popular cannabinoid-based oil goes to none other, CBD.

Properties

CBD and CBG are both powerful compounds of the cannabis plant, each offering unique benefits. One of the most interesting is the synergy between CBD and CBG. As more research is conducted, new areas are being explored and discovered.

  • CBG is considered a secondary/minor cannabinoid and demonstrates greater potential efficacy regarding cannabinoids that bind with only one type of receptor. Recent research suggests that CBG binds with cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2 receptors) found within our body’s ECS. This is significant in terms of the potential benefits.
  • CBD is considered a primary/major cannabinoid. It has been found to interact with various endogenous (within the body) targets, such as CB1 receptors, GPR55, and TR.

Retail Product Availability

If you were to try and come up with a new, unique CBD product, chances are, there’s probably already a product available on the market for it. That’s how popular CBD tinctures have become. CBD options include oil tinctures that can be taken with a dropper, various spray solutions, capsules, vape juices, edibles, pet products, concentrates, and topicals.

Unfortunately, with CBG, most of these options aren’t available yet. Your Cannabigerol Product options include but are not limited to the following options:

Don’t let these minimal options get you down; CBG is still in its infancy stage. Furthermore, the creative side for new product innovations in the CBD, cannabis, and marijuana industry is seemingly never short in supply!

Hmm, I wonder why that is…

CBG & CBD Mixed Together

CBD has almost been proven to do so many great things. Luckily, CBG seems to be following right behind regarding its increasing popularity and consumer demand for more research.

By consuming CBG with Cannabidiol, it is possible to reduce the psychoactive side effects of cannabis and hemp greatly.

Possible Side Effects & Health Benefits of CBG

The effects of CBG are not yet known. However, a total of ZERO lethal side effects have ever been reported. With that shared, if you by chance experience any negative side effects, you should stop taking the CBG oil immediately and consult with your doctor.

CBG has a variety of potential health benefits.

Research suggests that CBG has similar properties to THC, the main psychoactive constituent of cannabis. However, because our CBG is extracted from the highest quality industrial hemp grown in Colorado, the hemp plant can’t produce anywhere near the THC content found in marijuana.

More research is needed to determine the exact impact on various health conditions. It is unknown whether CBD and CBG are equally effective for symptomatic relief or why CBD appears to be more effective. The only thing we can say from our research is that each cannabinoid appears to offer unique benefits. For this reason, we always recommend choosing a Full Spectrum Hemp Extract Oil.

By choosing to go full-spectrum, you get the opportunity to experience the Entourage Effect. If you were to choose a broad-spectrum CBD or a broad-spectrum CBG product, you would be missing out on the trace amounts of THC. It’s just something we don’t recommend; this is, of course, unless your job depends on you being 100% THC-FREE.

How CBG Oil Is Made (Flower To Shelf)

In this section, we’re going to cover:

  • when to extract
  • the extraction process
  • steps of manufacturing
  • the best carrier oil to use for consumption and bioavailability

Let’s begin.

The Best Time To Extract

To make any cannabinoid-specific oil, you must first extract it from either a marijuana plant or a cannabis-Sativa plant (hemp plant). Our CBG, in particular, is extracted from industrial hemp, specifically from the hemp plant’s trichomes.

It is worth mentioning that CBG extraction must be completed much sooner when compared to CBD extractions. An earlier extraction is needed because premature hemp plants contain double to triple the amount of CBGA compared to fully grown hemp plants. The reason for this is that CBGA breaks down into THCA, CBDA, and CBG. So, to get as much CBG as possible during the extraction process, you need to capitalize and conduct your extraction BEFORE CBGA starts to synthesize.

The Extraction Process

Cannabinoid extraction is completed through a multi-step process using a very slow fermentation (our unique process is much longer than most), low temperature (not high), and then put through a dry distillation process. Instead of using butane or propane, we use non-denatured organic ethanol as our solvent.

Using this specific type of ethanol is way cleaner and safer for both the scientists and the end consumer. It’s a lot more expensive too. If you don’t know by now, Cannabidiol Life never chooses profits over people, and we always choose whatever is best for our customers.

Manufacturing With TLC

Comically put, we have “replaced” the THC with a lot of TLC (tender loving care) regarding our manufacturing and extracting process.

We use an extremely slow and delicate extraction process. Never compromising the molecular chain and very kindly rock the entire hemp plant back and forth inside our in-house invention, the hemp cradle. Our scientists then slowly add organic ethanol as the gentle rocking continues. Through this process, we can preserve more of the following:

  • cannabinoids (active & non-active)
  • trichomes
  • terpenes
  • flavonoids

This is exclusively completed by capturing the hemp-derived vapors during the manufacturing process.

Sure, it takes longer, demands more human resources, and costs more to produce. However, it’s a labor of love, and the results (based on our customer CBD reviews) speak for themselves.

Best Carrier Oil To Use

Once we have our distillate, we then infuse it with MCT oil. This carrier oil is the absolute best option (unless you’re allergic to coconuts) for cannabinoid bioavailability, period.

Once the CBG and CBD-rich distillate is infused and perfectly homogenized (fancy word for perfectly mixed together), it is ready to be:

  • bottled
  • sealed
  • wrapped with tamper-evident heat wraps
  • labeled
  • put on the shelf for customers to buy

Dosage Guidance

It is important to keep in mind that this oil is more concentrated than most and is intended to be offered to someone who has already tried different CBD products and who did not get the results they were seeking. Everybody is unique, and every single person requires their own protocols.

CBG is not one size fits all, or is it? Only more time and a lot more research will tell. Regardless of which mg dosage you choose to go with, we recommend and encourage you to consult with your physician to see what dosage works best for you. There has never been a fatal incident with CBG, so feel free to increase your dosage as needed.

Note: There is no need to take more than 100mg of CBG at a time. There is a reason nature provided a much smaller amount of CBG when compared to THC or CBD.

We recommend that you start with small doses increasing your intake every five to seven days incrementally, and don’t be afraid to experiment and try out different serving amounts. Find your CBG SWEET SPOT!
